This thematic, statement necklace aims to evoke questions about the time and place they were made.
By using contemporary jewellery techniques, Rosie Groom creates jewellery that transports the wearer back to an undocumented time and place, somewhere between past and present.
THE UN-EARTHED COLLECTION
Rosie Groom’s work focuses on forms and textures of excavated jewellery and the fascination of the unfamiliar. Jewellery is one of the earliest forms of art, and can be traced back 100,000 years. These discoveries were excavated from the ground, leaving them decayed and misshapen.
Groom is able to explore textures and forms through her impulsive, instinctive ‘sketches’ of rings using the lost wax casting process. These initial pieces were then dissected through drawings, from which emerged her final collection.
